"Already Gone" by S.L. Reay, (c) 1996, 2006
1. Last night a coyote howled in the
meadow And a train whistle echoed down the
hill. There was a rustling in the breeze that
stirred up my memories They played me that old
traveling song. And I wished that I was already
gone
2. This morning geese flew low past my
window They were winging their way to the
south They did not have much to say but they
pointed out the way They showed me deep snow
won't be long And I wished that I was already
gone
break I don't want to spend another
winter-without-end Here in this northern
prairie town It's warm down Tucson way. I
think I'll head on out today Next year maybe,
I'll be back around Next year maybe, I'll be
back around
3. There's a tear in your eye as you watch
me Stuff my clothes in a dirty duffle
bag There is a fire in your kiss that I know
I'm gonna miss But this rambler's gotta keep
moving on And I wish that I was already gone
