Medals out of
the closet

They sent him off to
war
Didn’t know what it
was for
Taught him how to
fight
And they told him it
was right
So he carried our
flag
Into a strange
land
Did what he was
told
They rewarded him
with gold
Break
So he came home
They told him he was
wrong
Those that ran
away
They had won the
day
So he hid his
gold
It didn’t matter he
got it for what he was told
The past got locked
away
Living in what’s
right today
Break
For 30 years been
locked away
Got it out of the
closet for the first time today
It was right, then it
was wrong
Now its displayed on
the shelf where it belongs
Forgiven but not
forgotten
Can get by, can live
on
Always do what’s
right
But never again will
he fight |
